[T]emporary [A]utonomous [F]estival planned for 2010………..
We seek to create a non commercial free arts festival, taking art out of the gallery system, making it non elitist and accessible to everyone. Stemming from 10 years experience of putting on similar inspirational events in more underground alternative settings, we seek to broaden our audience/participants in a public space.
[T][A][F] promotes the idea that art isn't just about the money market and celebrates a free exhibition space providing a platform for emerging talent. Creating a welcoming meeting space to nurture social exchange and ideas between the diverse local communities and groups. Seeding social rather than economic regeneration, and developing networks of creative communities.
The festival will consist of an arts trail which will transform the given space using multi media arts and installations to create a sensory experience. A main stage for music, a cabaret marquee for a diverse range of performances, and a film tent showing work by The Projection Gallery. The night time gallery will see the space and art transformed as light and projections stimulate the eyes not ears.
It will showcase and support the U.K's still growing TAA movement - a hotbed of emerging arts crossing all disciplines, fusing and collaborating between traditional and contemporary media. The artwork has a dark and ominous undertone, whilst sharing a hope and beauty unified through the use of free space. Music, performance, film and art are all parts of cultural expression.
An important focus of the event will be the inclusive workshops. These will help the festival to organically evolve so that everyone involved, from artists to audience feel ownership of the space and are empowered by the experience.
The festival itself is the art piece, breaking down the boundaries between creating art and being art.
We wish to act as an exemplar for sustainability (using renewable energy and recycled materials where possible). We are a highly resourceful, non wasteful, environmentally responsible collective and will encourage positive creative ideas about re using resources for life.
The event will be well documented with a comments wall, video booth, photos etc, this helps the audience/public feel they have taken part and can shape the next event.
Made by the masses for the masses, against the flow of the elite art world.
